@tcql@cybre.space Personal confession though, I don't think I've noticed a real difference between using a cheap SSD and a fast HDD. If you're using ddr3 and have 4 or less, then upping that will probably be significantly more price/performance effective.
if you have ddr2 like me, then, well, yeah an ssd will carry over when you can get better parts

@tcql@cybre.space also if you're lazy and sloppy and (like me) store a lot of junk on Desktop / Downloads / My Documents, etc, it can be worth it to change those locations to the HDD
seems obvious yes but easy to overlook and forget

@tcql@cybre.space And yes, I have my SSD for OS, basic small programs, and 1-2 high performance games, and cheap spinning disks for games I don't care about performance on, videos, music, backup, all the rest.
In Windows most installers are easy enough to click Custom and change the C to a D or what have you.

@tcql@cybre.space I remember researching this, but not what I researched, so I only remembered my conclusion that a Crucial MX300 seemed to be a good price/performance ratio and tons of people like it.

@vahnj amove.tv/news/2017/5/31/212-th is the ep they mention it, but I can't remember where in the 90ish minutes it is, been trying to skip around and find it for the last 20 minutes :(

@vahnj I don't do much of the streaming/tournament stuff, but I just remember his name coming up in The Angry Chicken podcast, where they told a story about last year him being a commentator, mispronouncing people's names after continually being corrected, all kinds of other things, and they had to yank him in the middle of casting.

transphobia hearthstone warning

@vahnj yeah he's bad, this article about him getting banned from commentating on official streams is from two years ago and suggests it wasn't new behavior

@vahnj oh whew it's just toxic gamer culture, I thought for a moment there would be a cringe-inducing card I'd have to live with.

@troubleMoney It took a while for me to associate After Dark with something other than flying toasters. :o

So tired, I don't remember the last hour or so just surfing around the web, but apparently I found this obscure Transformers character?

@tcql@octodon.social Very good! Last weekend I spent some time checking all my 1s and 0s and making sure they were nice and strong.

Latest D&D Adventure is Tomb of Annihilation, set in the Forgotten Realms.
enworld.org/forum/content.php?!
Friends' reactions:
A: Yay. More Forgotten Realms. So happy they're still pushing this setting.
B: Come on, A, be fair. It's Forgotten Realms with suggestions on how to make other settings look enough like the Forgotten Realms to run the adventure 😉

Are clickbait headlines and massive ad tracking actually beneficial to society? You'll be shocked to find out!

@chr@cybre.space It's like signal-adjacent noise to me now, like when I first got on the internet troubleshooting forums were filled to the brim with the helpful advice "just install Linux", especially in areas where Linux wouldn't help (need a vb dll for a game, need winmodem driver)
