a ton of my frustration seems to be stemming from me not knowing the right terms to search for i think
absolute biggest frustration with searching for something like this is finding sites selling car seat covers, and no way to tell the site that I am wanting an actual for real whole seat.
Best I've been able to come up with is replacing it with a racing seat, which costs $200+ plus brackets and other things, which is a bit overkill I think.
Okay, looks like the seat itself is twisted, and that's why it's not going back in right. Probably related to the thin aluminum that the cushion cage thingy was made of that snapped and is no longer structurally sound. I'm having a really, really hard time trying to find a whole replacement seat.
Break turned into a nap, nap turned into long nap, now it's way too dark outside to work on car. At least I have all day tomorrow to attach 4 bolts. If I can get more than 2 to line up at a time.

Feeling a tad overheated, have a headache, and sore shoulder is acting up. And car's not driveable.
Trying to put my car back together and running into problems. Passenger seat went back in just fine, but driver's seat (the broken one) isn't. I think the rails are warped or something from bad weight distribution or something. I got super frustrated, so taking a break now.

Sad news. The two seats are different enough that swapping the broken part is beyond my mechanical aptitude. I'd have to buy a whole seat or hire a professional to try the swap.

A while back my seat collapsed in my car, and I've been getting by with jamming pillows in the collapsed space covered by a towel so it doesn't cut me.
Now I'm going to try salvaging the passenger seat to see if I can use that instead. I've never worked on a car before. Wish me luck!
