but like.. isn't all the surplus value going to the labourer in a self-employed situation ?

Ugh, I picked up a differential equations/linear algebra textbook at the local library, and I could only remember maybe a third of the basic definitions and properties it begins with.
I am so, so out of practice doing any advanced maths... x.x

Honestly that whole story still gives me chills though :s it's almost like they were warning us in 1972 and nothing has changed at all
Thinking about how great the music for Dr Seuss's The Lorax animated special was and how some parts of it still make me cry when I hear them
When the Once-ler explains what an Unless is at the end, even though it's maybe ten seconds long, just, ;~;
You can just /hear/ how hopeless things are by how everything is presented and the music backing that scene accentuates it perfectly

Well, now I'm out of the tournament (or at least can't win it anymore) because I made one gamble on an out-of-the-way chest and it had the one item I needed to finish the game.
