"real" and "fake" are not very useful concepts when it comes to identity. Rather, throw them both out and judge things based on usefulness, helpfulness, or just how comfortable or appropriate they feel to the person or persons in question. There will be a lot less stress and imposter syndrome.

I just think that agonizing over whether you're "really" something or not isn't helpful or productive, and it's enough to find it helpful or pleasant to think of yourself as the thing.
@Rosemary Any idea if you could explain a little? Because I feel like a lot of stuff about me isn't by my choice, whether I think traits are useful or not.
Also this feels like a nice coincidence considering I'm dealing with some identitt stuff at the moment.
