@cozykaffe@snouts.online Hmm, it's much like lead really, in that the metal itself is not that bad for you, but the salts it forms are very toxic. I'm not sure if it would react with stomach acid, but if it would it would produce the extremely toxic mercury(II) chloride.

@cozykaffe@snouts.online It's also an environmental toxin; as a toxic element it can't be broken down, and there is no known mechanism for it to be naturally removed from a site where some was spilled. It accumulates in the environment just like it accumulates in animals that consume it, and it just stays there, never going down.
