When its come to Nintendo fighting games like ARMS and Pokken i've realized they focus more on the aspect of counterplay and reading your opponent over complicated combos and input and that's what I LIKE about fighting games.
That moment of narrowly dodging a grab and following up and punishing with your own is SO SATISFYING. Because that was all you. YOU did that. You read your opponent correctly and now you get to counter attack.
Like when im learning a fighting game I feel like I have to do homework to get to the fun stuff. Arms just gets to the meat of what makes fighting games fun to me and I appreciate that. Just the raw contest of skill between two people.
