It seems to swap textures way more often so high-res textures on frames and weapons get a little blurry if you swing the camera around, but that's absolutely bearable, haha
All the guides told me the Plains would be stuttery and crashy but even that's working perfectly

Also im still generally saddened by Weasyl's slow cascade into irrelevancy. People still use it enough to warrant it's spot on the net. But like, it could've been so nice, but no one want's to budge off FA, ever, despite howling they wish to.
And i understand, if its your job, damn is it hard to move; it's why i still push my twitter. It's like 90%+ of my living. But the non effort to make it a stable alternate site really sucks lol

But the real reason is that they make no measurable amount of money off this form of back compat, whereas they can make a bit of money off Virtual Console style repacks of the best sellers, where licensing allows. And that's how the capitalism cookie crumbles but a) I wish they'd just say that, and b) it's a shitty but sadly very normalized stance for a company that has managed to sequester a very significant slice of the history of an artistic medium on their now-abandoned proprietary platform.

The dismissal of platform-level back compat (ie put a PS2 disc into your PS3/PS4 and it Just Works) always leaned hard on murky platform holder anecdata like "people request this more often than they actually use and value it". And it's like, well you never really offered it for reals so you have no idea what the real demand was.
@Galuade I'll give you that and it sucked, but it's like "oh it only took three days to get my xbox to boot this playstation game" haha
this is probably not that interesting or impressive but it's such an accomplishment for me, haha
@Violet But like it's already -super- close to working perfectly in Proton so this is a fine solution until then, haha
@Violet Nah it's not really working with Steamplay yet, this is just like 3 frustrated days of fucking around with dlls and wine settings, haha

@LongLevy If you have a little time, reading about just the basic principles of Linux and the HFS is really interesting and demystifies it quit a bit!

All my stuff just worked, and only needed a little tweaking to get it exactly how I want
I think this might be the time this OS finally doesn't bounce off me and I'm excited
