Ah yes, very good that my smoke detector, which is hardwired into my apartment ceiling, has decided to start chirping loudly at 10pm. This is going to help me sleep.

The silence button does nothing. I don't have a 9v battery, and it doesn't have a battery bay anyway??

My only option to get it to stop squawking loudly at me for some reason I can't figure out (again, does not even have a battery bay) was to turn off the power and remove it completely.

Forcing me to totally disable the unit is OBVIOUSLY preferable to just letting me silence it.
