I really need to figure out how to do CWs on this thing when it's just crossposting from twitter.

I mean, I think I can have it blanket tag them all "birdsite" or something, but that's not particularly helpful about saying what's actually in them?

(this is part of the reason I don't post to local/fed timelines. But also because I don't really want attention anyway, so...)

Did the municipal election thing
Have a suspicion none of the people I picked are gonna get in, but I tried.

Doing some last minute catching up on today's London municipal election, and wow, what a bunch of colossal dickheads.

Literally only one of the top four mayoral candidates even mentioned another candidate's name when they did the "if you had to vote for someone else, who?" thing

@XerTheSquirrel we're mostly like, 2 or 3 overnight most of this week. One night's supposed to be below zero. 5-10ish during the day this week.

So like, not really heavy coat weather. Sweater and a light jacket.

@XerTheSquirrel I mean, it's not bad? I usually have the AC set to 26 during the summer. Work is a little iffy, because the HVAC is all messed up and it's like 16 when I get there in the morning. But I have space heaters there.

@XerTheSquirrel it's fine. This apartment is way, way better than my old one. It really doesn't cost *that* much to heat. I'm just holding out for now because it's still like, 22 in here during the day.

The worst part is this isn't even that complicated. I could probably describe a spec for this entire system on a single sheet of paper.

I just get caught up in implementation details and perfectionist "is this the best way?" and sent into eternal indecision

I've been trying to finish the thing I was supposed to have done by Friday all weekend, but

I was away for like half of Saturday doing other stuff, mostly just ran in circles when I tried

I've slept like an extra 6h today, had brain fog when trying to force myself to work

Because apparently we've just decided to skip autumn entirely, it's time to play everyone's favourite annual game:

"How long can I go before I have to turn on the apartment heaters?"

"people who should not have civil rights protections"

Remember that whenever you hear someone go on about "freedom" - it only applies if you're the right kind of person. Otherwise, harass and discriminate away. The only unusual thing here is seeing it stated so plainly.

I'm just realising how absolutely gigantic these bird pins are going to be!

"We will NOT build out transit infrastructure" is a key point people are campaigning on in our municipal election

Show thread

Our city is so forward looking that our grand plan to modernise transit has morphed from "light rail between key hotspots" to "maybe a couple bus lanes" and literally everybody in the city who has never taken a bus in their life is still opposing THAT.

im gonna stuff myself full of bullshit food tonight and nobody can stop me

I feel like when I'm building a thing, I have a bit of tendency toward building modules "just in case" I need to reuse it for something similar again.

Which is fine, but it does make simple things which I may never reuse a lot more complicated and slower to get working.

Oh my god now I have to compile things like this, I yearn for the sweet release of death
