Okay, I'm basically torturing this code and it isn't batting an eye so I think I can feel okay that I've made up for what I was *SUPPOSED* to get done at work and maybe go to heckin' sleep.

In-browser emulation of entire old computers is... something else.
It's actually rad that you can just click a link and play old DOS (and now C64) software with zero knowledge or experience required, no local install, etc.

Other bad web UI things:
- Have to enter State/Province

- But it only displays states until you select your country, which is further down lower on the form

- Complains or throws up an error if you skip the State/Province box to select your country first

I hate that websites can just decide to open themselves in new windows that don't have any of your toolbar icons or even allow you to toggle them back on, screw that.

Thanksgiving is a bad holiday built on bad history, but it's a good thing we have BIRDSTAKING

And up here in Canada, that's this (long) weekend! Can't wait to be a bird taking all of the food.

Boss makes a dollar
I make a dime
That was a poem
From a simpler time

Boss makes three dollars
The economy's lit
I make a penny
And I haven't got shit

Also last month's because I just realised I forgot to tweet it...

I'm gonna start insisting people call me a "computer warlock" anytime they say "wizard"

Ironically, Supermicro boards are probably the safest ones to buy now, because they're under such intense federal scrutiny. And all the other boards you might buy instead are all manufactured in the same country, sooooo...

Also my morning, dealing with this shit on top of trying to force my brain to get into programming mode

I've spent like the entire last week spinning in circles, unable to focus, and wasting time on constant indecision just trying to do some really basic sockets programming and I feel like I wouldn't even pass a first year programming course working like this.

Also painfully aware that if this were literally any other job, I probably wouldn't be able to keep that job in my current state, either. Which is another reason I'm stuck here, even if I could find another place that might take me.

Did the falling asleep thing again yesterday. Despite that, too tired to function this morning, took the morning off.

I'm painfully aware that I'm only dealing with this by burning through a backlog of vacation days I technically shouldn't even have been allowed to keep.

Geeeez, I'm far from a "everything has to be written in highly optimized C, with impossible to follow variables because it saves 512b" type. But using 35% of a modern CPU to type some letters is obscene.

Oh gods why does the mastodon video player not have a volume control besides on/off

Literally nobody on the internet can agree what volume anything should be at. A binary toggle is WOEFULLY insufficient.
