listen I love a lot of things about the Elder Scrolls but I think my actual favorite element of it as a cosmology and setting is that using console cheats is a form of magic supported by the metanarrative: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:CHIM
@hystericempress Hell yeah. Vivec is a lying $(#^@head, but he had a way with words and I still love that phrasing.
@hystericempress Yes, this. A hundred thousand times this. That smug motherfucker deserves everything that hits him but goddamn if he wasn't fucking right anyway.
@Soreth My favorite piece of expanded TES Lore is still Lord Vivec's Sword-Meeting With Cyrus The Restless, where Cyrus beats him straight by, essentially, being a better bullshit artist. As a divine entity, Vivec is bound to the rules that govern the divine, and ALL must make way for the Hoon Ding once it is manifested.
@hystericempress Oh nice, I didn't know that one. :D
@Soreth It's a REALLY GOOD ONE: https://www.imperial-library.info/content/lord-vivecs-sword-meeting-cyrus-restless
@Soreth I especially love, after Vivec drops this INCREDIBLY long and detailed and grandiose taunt about knowing how Cyrus dies and asks what Cyrus knows of him, he just says "I know you’re talking, because I see your mouth moving and I hear words."
As far as I am concerned this is the only way to appropriately deal with somebody like Vivec.
@hystericempress Call him out on his verbosity, and then cheat. Yup.
@Soreth Vivec is the Alan Oppenheimer of divine metaphysics: COMPLETE fuckface, total dickhead, absolutely deserves whatever punishment he gets for his countless crimes... but ALSO completely dead-on in his assessment of the forces he dealt with.
