Guys GLOW is incredible, actually.
It's a netflix original comedy about a women's wrestling show in the 1980's. It's really clever and campy in all the right ways, and it's a show with a huge and talented female ensemble cast, which is awesome in of itself.
I hope so! There's definitely enough going on with the characters that they could come back with more, but it did also feel satisfying as a one-shot. I'd love to see more of it, but in general it's refreshing to see shows contain themselves to one or two seasons instead of drawing themselves out unnaturally.
@Sparrow that is why I think we have progressed from the Golden Age of television (1999-2010) to something else entirely different, because the quality of shows are no longer good vs bad, they're now niche shows
Which is so goddamn nice, imo. I've always preferred weirdo indie films, and now we can get that weird and/or niche content with higher production values.
@Sparrow I am now looking forward to The Preacher, because they are finally following the graphic novel as opposed to pandering to the television audience, apologizing for the radical material by foregrounding the actual story 😴
@Sparrow ! I've been curious to check it out - glad it got the Sparrow seal of approval :D
Yeah, it's great-- definitely worth bingeing. The acting is superb and the characters still feel real despite the premise being so campy and hilarious.
@Sparrow i agree actually. Even felt like it could've been stretched out without any loss of quality. My favorite was Awesome Kong as Welfare Queen 😍 And I was salivating for more wrestling. Maybe season 2?
