I saw 2 boys in unrelated situations wearing nail polish at the elementary school I work at today, and that makes me really happy.
Ew, fucked up. :(
Yeah I'm really really glad these kiddos can wear nail polish and not get shit for it. Maybe it'll be harder when they get to middle/hs but I hope not!
Also one of the boys wore blue on one hand and red on the other, which was just damn cute imo.
@Sparrow @IrisKalmia ah nice, i like to alternate between two colours (which due to maths means any one finger has both colours across both hands!) when i do mine
@IrisKalmia @Sparrow also sometimes when one finger chips off more than the rest i'll scrape the rest off and paint that in a yet-unused colour and get this kinda patchwork look
and then after a while i want it to be more cohesive and i do 'em all one colour :p
@IrisKalmia @Sparrow oh no tho that look is cool
i mean i guess a few times i did just paint over *only* the chipped off parts but most of the time i redo the whole finger if chipped≥0.5(nail_area)
@Sparrow @IrisKalmia and recently i realised that when some nails are getting long enough that they bother me, that doesn't mean i need to cut all of em
so i now keep my index and thumb nails shorter (tho still considered long by some) while the rest get to be kinda big claws :3
@kit what whhhhhyyyyy?! That's awfulllll. Nail polish is my favorite way to dress my look up (tho I don't do it often because I chip it so fast). Glad you didn't get shit for the eye shadow tho!
@Sparrow basically it was all about being formal, because english state secondary school. (also it was from like 1066 or 1600 or something so they were all ~~heritage~~)
only certain trousers, shoes, shirts, and then a special sweatshirt *they* sell were allowed. no unnatural hair colours, no piercings except on the ears for girls (??), no nail polish, no necklaces except crucifixes (no star of david exemption? and this was a so called secular school), etc
@Sparrow even when i got to the optional part with no uniform i realised there was still a dress code, so all my short shorts and skirts were too short (nothing above the knee) and i had to go buy some leggings/jeggings/jeans that evening to come back the next day >.> and i had purple hair and they were like "get rid of that" but at least i was allowed nail polish and my lip piercing ?? >.> that's the kinda small silver linings ppl in english schools have to cling onto
@Sparrow so like part of me hates that i had to drop out but also i'm glad that i've been able to keep my dyed hair and many piercings for like 5 years now
@Sparrow ...or maybe it's 6? anyway yeah
@Sparrow my schools' dress codes forbade nail polish for everyone :c i didn't get shit for wearing eye shadow even before i came out as trans, at least
