Yes!! Precisely. A lot of the shows I watch have great dialogue, but I tend to watch TV when I'm tired/foggy, so this helps immensely.

The Hill House protagonist is a similarly timid, single woman with a caretaker job and lack of a solid identity.
Iris (an elderly woman/retired author) is also very clearly based off Shirley Jackson herself.
The acting was great and the atmosphere palpable, but overall more of a nod to literary works than substantial story in of itself.
