Social Anxiety

@Anke@tootplanet.space

*nod* that makes sense. I've had a lot of situations like that (usually at "dances" actually, where the combination of unstructured social interaction, loud music, and flashing lights has resulted in tears MANY times).

What I'm thinking of more so though is being in large groups and struggling to keep track of conversation, people's affect, and how to behave.

i updated my liberapay: liberapay.com/garbados/

the donations i receive through liberapay help me afford food.

Pfffft neologisms are fun and good so there. :3

Social Anxiety

Does anyone else find social situations stressful/difficult to navigate BECAUSE of over-stimulation? I often find there's so much going on in these situations and it's hard to prioritize what to attend to.

It is helpful, don't worry! I mainly just meant that it's something I would want to try out, just probably not for a while. My curiosity and stamina are often at odds with each other. :P

This whole exchange makes me smile. :P

Okay, that makes sense. If I have enough spoons for it and manage to get my hands on something like Blue Dream, I might give it a try.

But not any time soon. I've slept and woken up and still feel mentally/existentially shaken up.

I think I'll begin to feel better/more real after I've had some coffee and maybe gone for a jog.

But right now my thoughts keep cycling "I'm not real, I've never been real, and this is shameful"

I'm not sure what strain I had tonight, but yes I think in the past it's been indica. I haven't systematically tried different strains, usually just what's available. Maybe at some point I can run multiple trials, but that honestly sounds exhausting.

I've heard (anecdotally) there's a subset of ppl who react poorly to weed the way we do. It's just a bummer, since as a legal way to relax it's a lot less toxic than alcohol.

food, poverty, pol

i don't know how to communicate the state of things to folks who don't live it. nobody close to me eats enough, sleeps enough, has winter clothes, or any assurance that we'll be able to make rent on a regular basis. medical debt, student debt, credit card debt -- it just accumulates. there's no other way to survive. people freeze to death in the street next to towers of empty condos. this isn't a metaphor. it's not a joke. we're dying.

I keep going back to weed hoping it'll help, because so many other ppl find relaxation with it.

But I just have panic attacks almost every time I use it.

A clinical summary of symptoms while high:
- Increased depersonalization
- Increased dissociation
- Rumination, esp. wrt metacognition
- Body sensations (client reports "twinkling body")
- Increased social anxiety
- Persistent feelings of "fakeness, wrongness, feeling like an Android, a fraud"

I wish I could just babble at a mirror like a Sim to improve my charisma stats
