How's everyone doing today?
It's the last day before holiday break, so most of the kiddos at my school are wearing pjs (pajama day), elf/santa/reindeer hats, or some combination there of. Cozy and fun!
Worst feeling ever= having to ask a dude for help. Amirite guys?
Or even just, like, struggling with something in the proximity of a dude. That desperation as you try to figure something out quickly so he doesn't come over with a smirk and say, "Having trouble, miss?"
Work +
Is it weird that I'm really enjoying my required work training?
It feels nice to be a student again for a bit. Also to get plenty of in-field opportunities to use my new skills.
It's really exciting because ABA is an oddly perfect combination of what I learned in psychology & anthropology at Davis. Lots of data collection & scientific inquiry, but on the other hand I'm being paid to be goofy and play with kiddos. It's great!
Learning to delegate, and a related skill, to accept offered help, is a weird and difficult skill for me to acquire. I'm getting there, though.
Food
Made salad, Mac n cheese, and spicy baked zucchini.
Still not super capable of cooking but happy to be making home cooked meals at least once a week!
Traffic is terrible, actually.
Teetering on the "is my kid gonna be absent and can I go back to sleep for a minute?" and "gotta get dressed and leave". Waiting for his parents to text me back.

about nerd subculture
I really hate the idea of nerd-dom as a monoculture. If you're a nerd, *clearly* you like Star Wars, GoT, Dark Souls, Doctor Who, bacon, etc; of course you're some sort of tech sector type. (No books. Nerddom apparently doesn't include being a fan of Moorcock, McCaffery, LeGuin or whoever, 'cause there isn't a Foundation or Pern TV series yet.)
Ready Player One really seems to exemplify the monoculture. It feels like an ill defined identity reworked as a marketing scheme.
