I don't know if it's just nostalgia goggles but Windows 95-type explorer just had the right idea. You could customise the toolbars, and choose which ones you want.

Now you have massive-ass ribbons, you have to have them all visible, and I can never tell where anything is.

... and the best I can do with customisation on W10 is to just hide everything, showing a menu when I press Alt...

@Taylor much as I'm frustrated by a lot of Apple things, Finder still works like this old-school Explorer.

@yaodema Last I recall, even Apple was trying to move away from the traditional GUI as well.

@Taylor I'm on the most recent OS, and the toolbar is slim and highly customizable. I don't like how it wiggles around when you're customizing it tho.
