Open source Windows port complaints

The most frustrating thing with primarily-Linux software with _unofficial_ Windows ports is...

...which build has what I need?

I ran into this just now with FFmpeg. I absolutely love ffmpeg, swiss army knife of media, but Windows builds might miss/include features at build time.

Like, decoding a format but not having the matching encoder. Ack! Now I have GIANT WAV files, ack.

@ceralor oh I have had this *exact* problem where I've looked at like three different versions of ffmpeg for Windows and some have just, not worked. Never remember which one to use.
