mental heath ~/?

Do I have cPTSD? i dunno. Haven't yet worked if I'm on the spectrum or have general anxiety or whatever else either because I don't want to deal with the possibility of needing to be medicated.

... if I could get my meds in water soluble form, that would be great though.

r/cptsdmemes post

Boy this has been on my mind lately. It took me a good few weeks to get myself to get a strap set for VR peripherals.

And don't get me started on how much of a mountain getting a new phone has been.

Twitter and social media has done so much damage to our brains.

When I used LJ, I wrote for myself and my friends. Now, because of Twitter, I worry about those that'll miss out on what I have to say if I restrict myself to the likes of Mastodon.

Who cares!! Why does it matter!! I used to be able to be satisfied with communicating with only my friend circles!!

On Memes, Birdsite

I retweeted the following over on Twitter:

can we all collectively agree to stop treating these 'unpopular opinion' posts with legitimacy and just mute/ignore them

I hate how everything on Twitter, and on social media in general, has to be communicated through memes. We've reached a point where there's a new meme weekly and everyone has to join in on sharing something they think or feel through this latest format.

I'm not denying that memes aren't a valid a form of communication, but it's obnoxious when that's all people use to communicate. They're effective because of social media algorithms encouraging "engagement", and as memes they propagate wildly.

But also as memes they're limited and samey.

It's entirely possible to share whatever take or personal factoid without flooding people's feeds. (Especially the X Like = X Post types.) People don't, because without the excuse of the memetic fad they understand it would be obnoxious.

Yet it would allow for far more nuance, something social media desperately needs.

Sometimes I think the big problems talked about in the Game Industry(tm) are really the fault of a few big American corporations.

EA, Ubisoft, 2K Games, Blizzard-Activision.

Those are the four patting each others backs for perpetuating the same sort of garbage.

Are japanese publishers capable of nonsense? Oh absolutely look at Nintendo's virtual scarcity. But I never personally run into the problems of The Triple-A Industry, because I don't play the kinds of games from those publishers.

alcohol mention/joking

Going to have alcohol and pudding to relax after everything the last week.

...

Alright, it's kombucha, which has all of 1.25% alcohol, but still.

... I completely forgot about Fer.al after trying it all of once.

I'm too shy to be public in MMOs. I prefer hanging out just with friends in VRChat after all...

gross, drugs politics, dumb joke

Me: The National party wants to distribute one hospital bed to each region to treat meth, but that's not how it works. Certain regions will have bigger drug problems.

Dad: The thing is, apparently they've tested the waste water and found that "P" is everywhere.

Me: well, yes

Dad: *makes a face*

On the subject of that avatar world, did VRChat change how avatars work at some point? I guess they must've when they're now putting out version 3.0.

Because there are so many pokemon avatars whose camera positions are just, broken. Floating over the avatar or inside the head. I find the same problem with an Amaterasu avatar, where the camera is basically riding Amaterasu instead of being.

It's kind of annoying, really.

VR eye-contact/mirror stuff, squeak

I wish I could see my snout...
... would help avoid me phasing through the mirror~.

I've been really neglecting to update my website. I wonder why that is? I know I've drawn things this year.
>2020
oh right, i guess that would do it

Anyway, I finished a commission.

VR selfie/antics continue

In which I finally got my tracker to work with some confusion and frustration, and am able to wriggle and move my tail.

Though it may have some kinks to work out, the lighthouses kept losing track of it and lost the ability to holoport at some point. It might've just been from random testing.

I'm tired from wriggling and waving about. @ -@

Tech/UI Musing, On Search Functions

For as much as I dislike Search As Navigation I seem to end up using it a bunch just to find things - usually settings - because people don't seem to design good UI any more. Something with understandable navigation. There's always some random thing in a place that doesn't quite hit the mark.

Windows 10's search is invasive and phones home, but it's useful for bringing up a specific section of admin control panel stuff, and trying to find certain settings in Android has had me using the search function there too.

I don't ever touch it for file navigation though.

If I could work out how to VR and draw on my tablet at the same time I would probably be set.

... hey wait, there are cameras on front of the Vive, what about making use of those. (What are they for anyway?)

... those lighthouses definitely make a high-pitched whining noise. Gotta remember to unplug them after use.

Continued experiences from VR

  • My hands go slightly numb looking at my virtual paws. I haven't felt my virtual paws instead yet, but I think I can if I focus.
  • Big bellies are a similar feeling, where if I rub against it I feel like I could feel it in turn.
  • I tried reaching out to a mirror while using a physical wall as a solid equivalent. This didn't really do anything because of how I need to hold the Vive controllers.
  • The sense of being in a space and being in the virtual body still astounds me.
  • Floating slightly above ground caused by incorrect height settings in VRChat~.
  • Some avatars' arms stop moving earlier than mine when I make outward stretching motions. Not sure if down to the avatar, some weird scale setting thing, or my body's own quirks.
  • Shortly after VR my sense of perspective is all wonky. My vision feels sort of flat when looking at screens, and my hands feel like my "real" hands are elsewhere.
  • The headset (Vive Pro) isn't that heavy when worn properly, but I still get pretty sore and tired after some 5-minute-with-10-min-rest sessions.
  • I have not yet broken down crying about the joy of the experience. I'm somewhat surprised.

Want to dive back into VR again but I have important things to do today (i.e chores and laundry), so it'll have to wait...

virtual eye-contact/selfie, VR, pooltoys, lewd angles

VR IS REALLY GOOD OKAY

The psychological effect of the hand tracking and head tracking (especially for sitting/standing) is just, astounding. @ ~@

I tried taking some first-person pictures too but they undersell just how much in the body it feels to be...
