@kd@yiff.life To be fair, it -is- like one of very few European languages to have dental fricatives at all, and the only one that has a phonemic distinction between the unvoiced and voiced ones.
... but yeah, the vowel system is completely fucky and the most I've been able to reduce it is to /æ ɑ e ɜ o i u/ allowing for some truly ridiculous allophony/different vowel qualities from underlying long vowels, with /æ ɑ/ arguably not being contrasting phonemes altogether in most NA dialects
