Damage control on home flooding
Ok... I'm fucking spent...back is killing me, and I'm forcing myself to sit down and eat something, because the last time I ate was 10 hours ago.
The carpets are still very damp, but I'm out of dry towels and the wet/dry shop vac we rented is not meant for carpets. Damp is still a far distance better than what I came home to, which was water visibly pooling around your foot as you stepped on the carpet.
The bathrooms are dry and clean.
The kitchen likely still has water pooled beneath plastic storage totes, but I'm completely out of energy to move them to check... if water seeped in there, then the damage has already been done, by now.
All of the water seems to have come from the central walls, where the pipes are. It looks like mostly overflow and not sewer back-up, so there's no smell... there will be as the mildew and mold sets in, I'm sure, but I can't do anything further on that at this time.
We will likely lose some clothes, trinkets, and junk... well, it's water-logged junk now, at any rate. Some antiqve stuff, but it was in need of repair, so... mostly just stuff.
All active electronics seem ok. All of my older electronics that aren't in use were stored in the closet that took damage... they may be scrap... but I wasn't using them, or they were broken/obsolete... so...
All of this may just be a giant nudge/shove towards cleaning up the trash heap that is our apartment.
I'm pissed as hell about it all, but it's as contained as it's gonna get for right now.
They were going to need to replace the carpets when we left, anyhow... now it's not just because of kitty pee.

@JulieSqveakaroo Oof, I'm sorry... *offers hugs*
At least the damage isn't too bad in the end, by the sounds of it?
