@IceWolf Only on this instance it does; we've got instance-only posts implemented here and ending your post with a 🐺 is basically how you use that function.
@Thaminga (And I use way too much, honestly. If that were the local-only trigger I'd be posting local-only a lot of the time.)
@Thaminga Huh, so it's because vanilla Mastodon isn't just using Twemoji, it's using an /old/ version of Twemoji? I wondered where the pink ears were coming from.
@Thaminga I've actually got a userscript that converts the Mastodon wolf emoji to a system emoji character, I should really enable it again.
@IceWolf Think so! Depends on the version of the software too (used to be EmojiOne in the early days in fact), though we're running the cybre.space fork ourselves here I believe.
@Thaminga Mine's on vanilla 3.0.1, which is pretty new...? I wouldn't be surprised if glitch versions (is cybre.space a fork of glitch?) have the new /proper/ emoji.
But then again the other instance I'm on (I have an account over on wolfhowl.me) is Pleroma, and its Mastodon frontend – based on glitch – also uses the Bad Emoji™.
@Thaminga That nice wolf actually comes from EmojiTwo, a still-free fork of EmojiOne. (:
@Thaminga (Except I changed the eyes to gold instead of blue. Got both versions on this instance. )
@IceWolf My bad, it is the glitch.social fork and I totally mixed up the two.
Then again, emoji fonts can also be installed on a per instance basis I'm pretty sure, so who knows honestly. All I know is this is how it shows up on this particular instance, for as long as I've been around here I'm not an expert on any of this n.n;
@Thaminga Ah, that makes sense! I didn't know you could specify emoji fonts in the instance settings, that's pretty cool. Thought you could only add custom emojos.
Do you happen to know if that applies to vanilla Mastodon as well? Might have to ping the admins here if it does. :3
@IceWolf No idea, I've never messed with instance software of any kind myself.
@Thaminga Huh! That sounds like it could be annoying. :3
(I don't like that particular emoji because it renders with pink ears – pink ears! ugh! – which my system font doesn't do, but Mastodon overrides that. So I use instead!)
