Cancel culture != "consequences"!
You can have consequences without cancel culture.
You can be Canceled™ for something you don't really need /kicked out/ for.
[You can also do bad things and /not/ get Canceled for it. It goes both ways.]

@IceWolf I've been... kinda thinking about my usage of that term and kinda moving away from it. what... right wing folks call 'cancel culture' isn't... what i'm usually referring to at least, and I'm not sure it serves me to particularly use that term in my criticism of the toxic culture that can/is emerging around callouts.

@IceWolf so to say, when a lot of other folks refer to cancel culture, they're refering to how the right defines that, which is absolutely bullshit but culture around callouts is not without criticism

@Oneironott @IceWolf Yeah. Right-wingers being pissy about actually being held accountable for their shit for once, and various abusive sorts leveraging callouts to target vulnerable people aren't mutually exclusive.
