family, social norms

I have an impression that people really need to be discouraged from having kids (like, in the social sense, not the tory sort of way of financially restricting poor people). Having a child shouldn't just be a thing fucking straight people do when they feel like settling down, it's not a fucking relationship building exercise.

There should be social norms that normalise childless couples, there needs to be healthy skepticism placed on those who are planning to have children.

Having kids should not be the default or an eventuality; it should be a very specific decision

This can be considered a matter of public health - the more parents who have kids without the emotional intelligence or gravity of what they're doing, the more likely we'll have more people in the population with significant mental health issues.

@dzuk God, yes.

Moreover, while fortunately increasingly often people realize they've been abused and take steps to avoid that behavior themselves, oftentimes abusive parents still lead to their kids internalizing all that as normal and becoming shithead parents themselves down the line.
