Sign that summer is over: first of those little beetle fuckers that try to get into my apartment every fall sighted inside one of my window screens

@Naux little black beetles with red/orange accents that are shaped like a slightly elongated shield?

@Zauberin Right shape, more of a brown coloration. The ones I've got have been identified as Western Conifer Seed Bugs.

They're largely harmless and like to overwinter indoors. Unfortunately what that means is every fall I get a bunch of them trying to get inside my apartment.

@Naux Ah, okay. In my area we've got the bugs I described that try to get inside, though I haven't seen them for a few years.

They're these things, Box Elder Bugs:

@Naux Not as annoying as the marmorated brown stinkbugs. Those, however, I also haven't seen in a few years. We had one rather extreme winter in 2017/2018, where we had record-setting low temperatures for two weeks straight. I think it may have killed off the majority of them.
