why do people keep saying "person" to mean "human" in the context of stories that explicitly contain nonhuman persons?

@packbat I haven't read enough to see that, but the idea really doesn't sit well with me. In my own stories, I won't ever be using person as a synonym for human.

Especially since the stories I plan on writing probably might not even have humans

and yeah, it doesn't make sense

@packbat Some other terms that have been irking me as of late have been humanity, humane, inhuman, etc. All of which basically imply "not human is bad"
