self lore

About a month ago, I realized that ever since I broke up with a couple I was with, back in 2006, I've been actively avoiding including any of my friends or found-family in my fursona's lore or general 'fantasy world'. Up until that point, I had been maintaining a sort of internal story and lore? But afterwards, things get extra fuzzy.

I've been spending well over the last decade with the same close friend-group, my found family, but I hadn't dared include them.

@relee Kinda aligns with a piece of writing advice I've heard, which is to not write your friends into stories because you won't know where that friendship is going to be with you later down the line.

@Zauberin Yeah, it does work out that way, though I wasn't expecting things in 2006 to go sound so bad so fast after I had been with them for years.

I think if it hadn't been on the edge of the story, it could have been completed before we broke up? I wonder what it would be then.

I think it's okay to have no-longer-friends and former loved ones in your stories, since everyone changes. It's mostly bad if it happens while you're writing it, and have to take them out, or worse.
