I can see why Agatha Christie was so frustrated with the book at the end it really does feel like two projects smashed together. A Westmacott and a really clever mystery concept but the two dont fit together tonally and Poirot feels perfunctory.
@nighteyes anyway Alaska pays big government grants for rhubarb research because it grows so well there.
@nighteyes Anyway garlic is an antiseptic we all know that but the fascinating thing about Rhubrb is that is from Mongolia and became popular as a medicine so it traveled on the silk road to Europe where it grows well and is a solid crop for humans and animals (animals eat the leaves humans the stalks) so Ben Franklin imported to the USA as a cheap cash crop for human settlers to avoid starvation the downside is overconsumption causes kidney stones.

@nighteyes pineapple are many small fruits that swell and grow together into one big unit. You are eating fruit that got compacted by space as it ripened and squeezed together their flesh merging
