I feel like every time I try to build anything for iOS I fall at the very first fucking hurdle and it sucks

“drag a UIView to your view controller” I can’t find a UIView, is that just called a “View” now?

“control+drag that view onto ViewController.swift and create an IBOutlet” control-dragging just creates a blue line, but it doesn’t actually seem to be able to drop anywhere?

“set top, bottom, leading and trailing to 0” um, where? in what? there’s a picture of an “add new constraints?” how do you get here? it’s not a menu item I guess?

your screenshot has a pair of “layout guides” and mine doesn’t? is “safe area” equivalent? how do I fu ck in g create a constraints entry

I HAVEN’T EVEN GOT TO WRITING A SINGLE LINE OF CODE YET I’M STUCK IN THE DAMN WYSIWYG EDITOR

there seem to be two “selected” states for objects? what’s the difference? what do they mean? nothing else in the UI seems to change to indicate I’ve done something meaningful?
