I don’t know how we as a society are going to convince ourselves that trusting an entirely unaccountable corporation with your personal information and (what you think will remain) secrets is a bad idea
Facebook leeching your data out of every part of your phone you consent, knowingly or not, to them accessing is one thing, but the unavoidable data-based assumption engine everything else gets put in is creepy as hell, too
I don’t know how to make you care about your privacy when it’s clearly already being implicitly eroded by the governments and corporations you interact with no matter what you personally do, and it honestly makes me despair
I guess all I can do is continue to regard these things with suspicion, avoid enabling such systems myself as a programmer, and try to empower people who will listen and not consider me a tin foil hatted weirdo with the facts of the matter?
everyone who can access this data is using it to shove you into a set of ever more specific marketing facets which ultimately reveal more about you to those who get to show you their ads than much that’s useful
I don’t think that’s okay, I don’t think this is ethical technology
