My tri-wing screwdriver arrived so of course my game boy pocket is already open. Nothing seems obviously exploded/corroded/busted from a quick glance so I think I’ll try giving it a solid current source later and see what happens.
Interestingly, the shell of the link port is corroded on the bit that faces the rear of the console. I suspect that’s a sign of where my fingers sat while playing it over the years!
The replacement shell seems to match up with the original in most important ways, but it’s clear from the weirdly shaped Nintendo logo that it’s an aftermarket clone. Will have to see how it sits with me!
I’ve decided I’m keeping the original game boy case. That being the case, I’ve given the whole thing a good clean! (The stickers have been missing for a decade or more, don’t freak out)
