@Mycroft ay i've got a silly/fun mtg question:
a petsite i'm on lets you name them, and both Yawgmoth and Phyrexia are available, but I only have space for one. Who should I go with? (I already snagged Memnarch)
@Mycroft idk how much you want me to spoil, buuuut por que no los dos! Phyrexians are a bad crew.
@catterfly I don't think there's anything to 'spoil', it's just story I haven't absorbed or been exposed to yet.
Unless it's unreleased content, like what happens in War of the Spark. Which I'm less interested in, because although it takes place on Ravnica, it looks more like a "We're getting the band back together" with people I have no emotional attachment to.
Except Ajani and Nicol Bolas.
@catterfly And even then my interest in Nicol Bolas is my headcanon of him being so evil because he's super duper frustrated because he never finished that easter egg hunt, still missing that last egg that someone hid somewhere. Whenever asks if anyone's seen it they always just giggle uncontrollably, and that's gotta be frustrating. Where is that egg? Where could it be? How could it be so cleverly hidden? STOP LAUGHING!!! :(
@catterfly And also Ajani because mmm hot cat dad, haven't looked much into where he's from or what he actually does.
@catterfly The more I learn about Karn, the multiverse's second saddest robot, the less I feel I know about lore.
I did watch this very helpful Completely & Unquestionably Accurate History video produced by WotC which illustrates some lore, such as when Urza constructs Karn.

@Mycroft lfdkjgdklj holy shit this video
and yeah, there's current lore (the jace fanclub), and a second deeper/older lore (urza and his terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day) that's somehow much bigger.
@catterfly Ahhh, yes, I'd seen phyrexiaN a lot. Still not sure where they came from, and I think I conflated them with Eldrazi for a time. I do remember they had something to do with artifacts, and I wonder if that was because they were artificial, or the world they conquered was artificial? Or relatedly both?
