I just read Jack's stupid thread. Some of Greenwald's takes, which I shouldn't be surprised about...

I really need to continue / start / finish writing my things about deplatforming Nazis.

Kill your heroes

But also something about losing your heroes.

Mourning the people you wanted them to be. Mourning the people you thought they were when you was idealistic and naive, and young.

I think it's words we need to hear once in a while, that is easy to get attracted and attached to this idea of who someone is and then disregard who they actually are. Who they keep defending again and again...
With "slippery slope" arguments, or "it was just a joke bro".

Something something sunken cost, having invested in believing in someone, do you really want to give that up? It's hard to. But after the first time, it gets a little easier.

Once you've seen it you can't unsee it, it's everywhere. And once you can see it, it's your responsibility to do something about it, or you're complicit.

Or as the quote goes:
“The trouble is that once you see it, you can't unsee it. And once you've seen it, keeping quiet, saying nothing, becomes as political an act as speaking out. There's no innocence. Either way, you're accountable.”

Kill your heroes

Also if you read this, I may need encouragement to actually write this, if you've appreciated my words about stuff like this in the past.
