i haven’t had much to say about america / capitalism / colonialism / empire lately beyond death to the lot of them. i realize that was 90% of my shtick for the last five years, largely because i was undergoing a radical shift in my own politics and was doing a ton of reading to make sense of the intense grief i felt during that time, both from my political awakening and personal losses to suicide, etc. […]

i’ve been doing a lot better emotionally in 2021, with 2020 being an especial year for personal growth. my politics seem to have settled pretty firmly in “permanent revolution” territory, though i put on a socdem hat for my socdem friends. i believe the US must be overthrown, that meaningful reform is impossible, and that the hard work of revolution is our only real path to justice. when push comes to shove, i believe in communism more than democracy.

i’ve become fully disenchanted of techno-solutionism, so that i think it’s fine and good to build things that you and yours need but that some new website or protocol cannot foment transformative leverage. that is not the kind of infrastructure we need now. in light of the state’s widening breadth of failure and neglect, we need hard material relationships — the hands that raise you from the floodwaters, not just another place to post.
