I still might remove the large inductor. I could get away with it by inserting another small(ish) low pass filter on the gate to the mosfet.

anyway the ripple at the outputs is too small for the simulator scope, but my guess is that it's about 100nvac at each load.

My wiring is probably noisier than that.

It's a bit overbuilt because I decided to add a regulator circuit to my already built filter section.

Anyway, there is 670VAC between the plates of the full wave rectifier, a 12x4 tube, and then a stack of 5% zener diodes to provide a reference voltage of up to 380V. The output of the rectifier will never get that high, so the regulator mostly smoothes things out at whatever the rectifier tops out at.

I don't need all the large caps in the filter section, but it's already built and paid for.

Since my power transformer fried*,
I've had some time to think about how I want the power supply to work. This is what I came up with.

*probably because it was unfused. the primary melted, but everything on the secondaries is still fine?

haven't had the emotional boost of participating in a thread in a very long time. reminds me of when the internet sucked less.

@noiob @MochiWaifu it's technically before my time too, but i'm pretty sure that's one of the reasons my dad had the decks.

@noiob @MochiWaifu and it used to be live until the stations refused give the musicians a cut of the revenue

@noiob @MochiWaifu i was all about music. my parents had a big record collection, and my dad had 1/4 open reel tape decks, so i listened to a lot of recorded radio.

this transformer will bother no one anymore (should i try to make a new one out of it?)

also 330-0-330 is the limit point of "baby got back" measurements
