@blackle@dev.glitch.social I think for me it depends on how hard those languages are to use with other package managers, and what ends up filling the void. I'm thinking specifically of how much of a disaster the Go ecosystem is, and how having a real package manager integrated from early on could have fixed that.

Is there any standard one-byte Japanese encoding? e.g., one that would contain ASCII and kana, but no Kanji. I'm familiar with Shift JIS and EUC-JP, but I'm wondering if a one-byte font I'm looking at is using a layout cribbed from elsewhere.
