I don't think young kink-crit people realize the pressure they put on people to hide parts of themselves they're ashamed of regardless if it's the kink being 'criticized', or it's effect on older folk that grew up FAR more invisible, often for decades before seeing who we are.
If you're wondering why we are reacting so strongly to this shit, understand that many of us have been traumatized by being invisible for so long that we would rather die than have -other queer people- demand we stay invisible
You can't understand, just like I can't understand what the AIDS crisis did to our older generation. Society grew faux acceptance on the -bodies- they let fucking die to an extent that most had to figure ourselves out with little info.
I know young folks want to be heard but part of growing up AND being intersectional is listening to others. PLEASE listen.
