today's negotiation with the sprog: If I call zir by zir new name and zie doesn't respond, I may try the old name, after "hey you" and "yoo-hoo small monkey!" if I really need zir attention. 11-year-olds: it's not always clear why they're ignoring you.
Anyway, for those of you who know my sprog: zir name is Alex, now, and zie prefers "zie/zir" or "they/them" pronouns. (Except zie says there's still a couple of days a month zie feels like a girl and zie will let us know when that happens.)

I might stumble over zie/zir in person, but good to know they/them is safe. Heck, I still stumble over my /own/ neopronouns in verbal speech (ve/ver/vis).
It's really heartwarming to not just see a kid having new gender experiences, but also know their parent is very supportive. :-)
