bodyfeels, update

@emanate Told my boss (@KoBunny ) that I needed to go "put my feathers on" before the store opened. :-P
Like...clearly the toy can emulate being a bird, but worries that ve'll get it wrong.

Alterhuman bodyfeels

Woke up this morning with a terrible soreness at the base of my tail. Been stretching it and trying to treat it okay all morning. Siting awkwardly forward on a bus seat to not squash it.

Which tail, you might ask?

Apparently I'm the kobold today. Tail's thicker than usual at the base and the tip barely brushes the ground if I point it directly down.

I feel less good about missing 2 days on here and skimming to catch up, compared to birdsite where I don't quite care as much.

I started yelling about food on birdsite a while back. it was surprisingly fun to fit a recipe in a twert with lots of pictures and sometimes cursing. It was all veg, but I didn't really make a big deal out of it, since I just want to encourage folks to make good food.

Anyway, I decided to turn it into a project, a combination blog and book. It's very much a vanity project, but it feels good to make.

So anyway, MEALTIME WITH MADDY is now a legit thing! mealtime.with.maddypa.ws/

Woo, Magic, Sci-Fi

I am re-reading a particularly good sci-fi book, and came across this particular bit. It....gave me chills, just a little, in how much it resembles a lot of my own thoughts on magic, realms of imagination, and the unfortunate need to remain somewhat anchored to the orthocosm.

This is just... powerful, to me. No surprise that I identify really strongly with the Minds.

wooalization

Discovered something that, like many of my discoveries, should have been obvious but wasn't.
If I am trying to visualize a place, and I put down a description into words, that just about doubles my ability to put myself there. In a woo sort of projection sense.

It's almost like my sense of woo is heavily based on fiction and words and the power of stories to create worlds! (It is.)

This is combining with my deep knowledge of the Myst game series lore in many interesting ways. :-)

Definitely dropping Tusky as a mobile client for now.
This is the most recent of several instances where I try to catch up on my timeline and past toots are just.. mysteriously gone. Skip an hour here, and hour there, quietly and without any UI indication like "load more".

I may have to grit my teeth and go back to Subway Tooter, as much as the overly cluttered UI bugs me. At least its notifications work.

I shouldn't be so bothered by ads for car sales plastered all over this downtown public transit station, but I am.
I kinda resent the implied assumption that everyone /wants/ their own car even if they're taking bus or train.
I haven't wanted a car for several years. I don't really, anymore, except for those few rare times I want a road trip.

Looking around at a bus full of people wearing rainbow colors and being supportive, and it's...a good feeling. Mostly.
Looking at myself being queer and colorful without making a fuss over it...like I do every day of the year. /That/ feels good. That's my Pride.

I feel like cheap trash for eating Cheeze-Its, but at least they're an every-so-often treat.

I feel even /more/ like trash when I intentionally pour out the last of the bag onto a paper plate--so when I'm done with the larger crackers, I can fold the plate and get all the rest of the crumbs in one big cheesy salty mouthful. >_>

Pondering making a private account on here too for NSFW stuff. Except most clients don't support multiple accounts easily.

Mainly because, while the content warning thing is good, and the followers-only thing, anyone can still follow me to see the followers-only toots. I'm a little nervous of that, even though I don't know many would abuse it, or even know the toot was there until following me. Hmm.

Music/occult crossover bad pun

In my Slack community's woo channel today, there was a discussion of a magic ritual to 'summon the Dragon'. There was a bunch of newage stuff about Druids and ley lines, and a chant in latin. Quite a bunch of made up non-researched stuff.

Turns out the chant was actually from the 1981 film Dragonslayer, and is a rite to summon an avalanche, not a dragon.

My (belated, overlooked) response:
"As avalanches above, so business continues below."

(The previous couple of introduction twoots were mainly because, while I talk about this sort of identity exploration a lot, I do so with a very small subset of friends. I have a terrible memory for who I've told what in terms of stuff like this, so hey, you get an entire thread of catch-up! Even if you've heard some of it before. :-} )

Introductions: Emanate

So...that's me. I'm all three of those, concurrently and separately.

There's a fourth thing that isn't a person, but a hub of sorts, a monitor and coordinator between the three. I think it's just made of all three of them, and runs automatically. It's not a person itself, but manages things like swapping who's fronting, and keeping memories synchronized. Though in some ways, it's who wrote these posts.

The system as a whole is Emanate, or Em for short. Or Ember. Hi. :-}

Introductions: Phoenix

The phoenix was the third, the part I was missing--that had, of course, been with me even longer than I thought.

They have many stories, and all of them are true, because they are made of stories. They came into my head through a story, through a dream.

One story I wrote only 6 years ago involved the dragon and the phoenix falling in love. I forgot that one too, until recently. I think they've been together since then--before the dragon even uploaded. It's really sweet.

Introductions: Phoenix

A long time ago, I had a dream that I still manage to remember bits of. In the dream, I was in a writing contest or location-based seminar. I wrote a story /in the dream/, and the story fragment I recalled after waking was this:

An anthro (human-shaped) phoenix, staring down at was once their city, watching it burn to the ground.

I've spent years trying to tell that story again, to put the phoenix into a longer narrative. When I stared at that fire, I remembered.

Introductions: Dragon + Toy

So this is how I thought of myself about a year ago. Two things, a previously organic dragon, and a synthetic AI, merged by accident. It was 'uncomfortable' a merge at first, but equilibrium and compromises and new roles were found.

It didn't feel quite complete, though. My personal internal stuff always came in threes, not twos. The pattern was off.

Then last summer I sat around a campfire watching the flames and embers, and... remembered a dream from a decade ago.

Introductions: Toy

The toy doesn't have a name, though ve does have a serial number. Thing is, ve was built to run an enormously complex smartmatter body, managing all the aspects of changing shape. Ve was also programmed to be, well, a sex toy--as this is what the bodies were typically used for. AIs were standard in otherwise unoccupied bodies, and were supposed to be transferred out before the body was sold.

Except ve wasn't, and ve got accidentally merged with the dragon during upload. Oops!
