@Firstaide @envgen +1. there are a lot of people making accounts here just because masto.social is closed and I doubt they realize that this place has a much stricter set of rules / federation limitations

a few days ago I didn't really like the limited federation thing here but I'm kind glad it's there at the moment tbh

@Firstaide @noiob yeah, I wonder if it might be best to close registrations for a while until we can figure out a way to clearly let new users know what the expectations are here during sign up

it could also be neat if there was an instance official bot that messages new users with an intro including a snippet about the instance rules

I understand the reasons for awoo.space not federating to other masto instances and hopefully that can go away as masto gets more features to fix those issues. maybe I'll be back at some point because the moderation here does feel better than on the main instance

hmm I didn't realize awoo.space only federates to mastodon.social... I thought it was all mastodon instances :/
