What is the recommended way to migrate followers?

Best ideas so far:
- just give up and start building a base of followers from scratch.
- spam "please follow new account and unfollow this one" until everyone has either done so or just unfollowed you to stop the torrent of annoyance.
- create a series of toots that systematically tag everyone who follows you, so it appears in their notifications.

Also calling people scroungers or parasites is kinda offensive, speaking as someone who is totally dependent on state benefits.
