“Hiccup’s leadership and dreams of creating a dragon utopia are challenged” please does that mean he’s challenged to a holmgang? Or that a fell creature comes from the bog to feast upon his housecarls each night? Or that he has to travel to dread Nastrond to seek powerful counsel? I can think of lots of stuff that would be AWESOME and they’re also not very HTTYD.
Although I would actually not be happy if Hiccup’s half sister returned and raised an undead army and a giant wolf before the entire island was consumed by Surtr, I’ve seen that before.

@green see all I can hope is that Hiccup feels abandoned by Toothless when a dread army of Draugr emerges from the sea, their leader bearing the invincible blade Tyrfing, and to defeat it he journeys alone to Hel to ask counsel of his father, now but a pale shade. But then it turns out that the only weapon that could halt Tyrfing would be forged in the breath of *two* dragons so the heteronormativity would help out in the end.
But Infinity War already had forging a god-slayer, so it’s unlikely.
