duck tales (wildlife, ducklings, some attrition involved)
of the two mallard duck moms (duqueens?) who've been raising ducklings in the nearby pond, one has ended up with five, the other with one. this morning I saw the singlet mom... with no duckling. "aw, she lost her last duckling," I thought.
then I saw the mom-of-five with... six ducklings. one of which is slightly *larger* than the others. .... oookay then. XD

crow stuff
saw a crow fly past with a stick in its beak. I said "it's a bit late to build a nest, isn't it?" as it landed on the roof of a building nearby. "you're going to build a nest *there*?" and then I realized the crow was using the stick to dig through the gutters for bugtreats, and apologized for underestimating corvid intelligence, which I really should know better than to do. XD
... well I *was* going to go do errands but then the TinyCats feed went to the kittens visiting "Grandpa Mason," and now I'm hooked again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PowGFq6X3Co
Piracy was everything from naval militias defending port towns to slavery abolitionists, there was a black samurai in the 1500s known as Yasuke, and Charley Packhurst was a one-eyed, female-assigned-at-birth, male-presenting hardass who famously ran stagecoaches. History books are big fat bricks of whitewash.
spiders
the funny thing is that I can remember having had a dream about almost exactly that, suddenly realizing I was covered in tiny baby spiders and being deeply cuted and concerned and trying hard to brush them off while not hurting them. good to know that's exactly how my conscious mind reacts too!
spiders
to which my reaction was "d'awwww, lookit the tiny baby spiders!" and then to be as careful as possible about brushing them off and not squishing them. I've probably brought at least a half-dozen of them inside with me, and I may have several still crawling around on me somewhere, but they were SO CUTE AND TINY. XD
also the crow was extremely pleased with the peanubs. ^___^
spiders
a crow came to the porch railing and gave me The Look, so I went outside and refilled the suet feeder and put out peanuts. while I was out there I felt spiderwebs, which didn't seem unusual until I realized that a spider egg clutch had hatched on either the suet or the hummingbird feeder, and there were dozens of tiny spiders all over the porch, about the size of a pinhead, many of them dangling from the suet feeder. I then realized I was mildly covered in tiny baby spiders.
