warning about Choice Hotels
Maybe it takes my particular brand of ADD to make this kind of mistake, but at no point did the booking process actually *ask* me for a set of dates -- and it defaulted to today's date -- so I accidentally made an uncancellable reservation for tonight at a hotel 4 hours from here.

just watched a crow scolding a Cooper's hawk. the hawk seemed unconcerned as it hopped around in tree branches, and the crow eventually gave up. Cooper's hawks specialize in eating birds, and there was one nesting in the forest last spring. it's a tense season for all the birds.
