I also got a bright orange PAWS hoodie to wear when I'm walking to volunteering, as for at least part of my journey there's no sidewalk or streetlights, and with the mornings getting increasingly dark and rainy, I'd like to not be hit by a car thanks.

today at volunteering I cleaned a squirrel enclosure. one of the squirrels managed to get out of the enclosure, but then just sat there, so I was able to grab it and toss it back in. then while I was raking up straw another squirrel jumped on my back. I wasn't bitten or anything, it was just startling as hell. XD

And problem is fixed, thanks to a person DM'ing me.

Is there a user-level way to ban complete instances from your timeline? Is there a syntax that makes that work in the keyword filter?

California fires

The Nuns, Atlas, and Tubbs fires alone have burned over 120,000 acres of land and killed at least 22 people. FEMA is deploying. We're receiving aid from fucking Australia.

My home is still safe, but many others are *completely obliterated.*

If you can spare any cash, please consider donating to a charity in the affected area. This one is run by my credit union, and they're everything a financial institution should be. redwoodcu.org/northbayfirereli

Global Politics (-)

I still can't quite wrap my head around the fact that there is an appreciable number of people around the world who're "on the fence" about whether or not to support neo-nazis

(Context- thing I said earlier: "That ex-neo-nazi's story is important because it might help convince people on the fence")

hey masto, is there a general sense of ethics/community standards about making accounts that mirror/crosspost birdsite accounts that you don't own? like basically there are a few birdsite accounts i enjoy seeing but i don't want to keep checking birdsite for them. is it a thing to ask for permission to set up such a thing? does it get complicated if it's an agency/organization run feed instead of an individual?

have other people done this?

the crows have me trained... they also have me trained to put out peanuts on the porch railing when they come by, though that behavior's been interrupted lately with the seasonal territorial disputes.

Acquired as a military foothold in the pacific, monetized as the US sponsored vacation destination, and now maturing as the judicial front line in the fight against legislative racism. Who could have guessed? :D

In the US, legal case names in federal civil forfeitures are formulated thus: "United States v. <item being seized>".

This leads to some entertaining case titles. Particularly well-known are "United States v. Approximately 64,695 Pounds of Shark Fins" and "United States v. Article Consisting of 50,000 Cardboard Boxes More or Less, Each Containing One Pair of Clacker Balls".
