Noticing that this time, when playing in Mastodon, the culture has felt a lot more familiar. I think we may have hit a "critical mass" of folks to steer it toward healthy discussions instead of the fringe Tumblry stuff that dominated it years ago.

No doubt, one's experience of Mastodon is shaped by those you surround yourself with, but when I played with it before, it was absolutely impossible to escape that specific kind of leftist who only eats other leftists.

The aggression I saw in the earlier community even made me second-guess the real-world merit of Content Warnings, because them existing made people police them so aggressively as to make them a stressful minefield and not a useful tool.

@SilverEagle I hope there will be patience on both sides and a re-alignment of norms. I think CWs are a great feature but if everything is CWed then most people will auto-show and that will make it useless
