Gender transition (chest reconstruction) - info request, plz boost
@scoots@mastodon.art Thanks!
FWIW I actually don't care about scars basically at all, I'm mostly just focussed on the mass question.
(And good thing too, because given the hormone situation I'm going forward with, I will not be getting more hair or muscle mass. ;))

@porsupah I know of other places I could ask; I'm asking here because I feel comfortable here. :)

So, the specifics:
I would like to be able to go topless again or wear stuff like mesh shirts without a binder. Would that sort of chest-stuff feel weird in the latter case? Would I get looked at weird? (I wanna say I don't care but in the end I probably care at least a little bit). Would showing that much make me FEEL weird (obviously I can really only answer this one myself but others' experiences can still be helpful. (3/3)

From some pictures (admittedly from a different surgeon) it looked like the extra roundness amounted to mostly a bump in the areola area which is at least better than the "still breasts but smol" situation I was initially worried about. However, I'm not sure if I'm looking at things right and I'm also not sure about the functional implications of that sort of thing? (2/?)

Main areas of consideration:
I do rather like nipple sensation but it's not vital for me. I'd also be happy to not have to worry about drafts. However, for inverted-t, the doctor emphasized that there will be more tissue left over than with a double incision, calling it something like early breast development. I did not really have a standard early-breast-development, so it's hard to really work that out. (1/?)
@Oneironott You can, you're an awesome ott. :D

I just had a consult with a top surgery doctor today! I am really excited but also somewhat anxious about the options. I'm in the fun grey area where I can go with double-incision or inverted-t procedures.
Because of my unique gender situation, I don't know many folks who've had top surgery procedures, or where to find them. I'd love to talk to folks who've had both of the above, especially inverted-T, to help me decide.
Thanks!
@theoutrider I'm a UX designer and I was just talking about this last week after finding out a designer coworker is a big Myst fan too. I honestly think in some ways Myst and things like it are responsible for me being a UX designer; the way they do hinting and affordances really got my brain going about how we interact with the built environments around us.
design talk though: I love that the Myst games use careful exploration and observation of your surroundings as their most core loop - you encounter puzzles through it, you find clues for them through it, and your reward for solving puzzles is normally access to new places to explore
this means the single most important thing is to not rush it and really take your time taking in what's around you and playing around with any interesting things you see
@Oneironott augh hooooooot
Also yet another time when my Necker Cube necklace started up a conversation about pagan iconography even though the design had nothing to do with that originally. Huh.
Neptunian meditation
You are a drop in the ocean
Surrounded by and mixing with all the other drops. Filling the world, touching its extents, spreading life.
You are a drop in the ocean
Able to be seen, to be held, to go through all the journeys and changes that the whole ocean itself is too big for.
You are a drop in the ocean
Mingling with all the other drops, sharing what you've found and tasting what they've brought. The ocean is richer, and deeper, because of you.
You are a drop in the ocean.
