I just found some bouncy chiptune sugar made by a soft anime boy and my night is suddenly 100x better.

I've been feeling wistful for the weird southwest town I grew up in lately. At some point I need to write something about that, with digressions into why listening to Night Vale feels very strange/annoying sometimes.

it's not just appearance; sergals really are constructed from cheese wedges of various shapes

so i was with my alchemist homies, smokin a fat 🝳 of the 🝘,

HEY Y'ALL BTW: i edited a queer-centric comic anthology based on the Tarot's Major Arcana recently, and we're currently running a Kickstarter to get it into print! We're only a paltry $202 away from our goal as of now, so please pre-order if you can and spread the word if you can't!

I remember first picking up the Werewolf the Apocalypse books and getting blown away not (just) because of the badass wolves but also because so much of the cosmology resonated so much.

LB is a good overview of the start of it for me and then there were the added layers of hearing a ton of local First Nations stories growing up, and taking long day-dream walks through the land that those legends told about, and even in church getting some of the trailing edge of 1970's 'nature is great' hippie Christianity. And then just stuff like the previously mentioned alt-school I went to for 7th grade, and the general Santa Fe culture.

@indi I don't think mine were ever as strong as yours, but as a kid I always felt it normal to talk to the trees and feel the mood of the forests. When folks were upset with tech that'd not work I'd suggest they treat it better, and then force a laugh when they looked at me weird >.>' Animism definitely just... makes sense to me, even though I've consciously lost a -lot- of my sense of it all

It was roughly three days ago when I really actually realized "Oh wait, most people DON'T grow up just drenched in an animist worldview."

This probably explains why my magic/esoteric studies have always taken such a weird, sometimes frustrating path.

*pokes at learning French in Duolingo, messes up une/un constantly* This gives "down with gender" a whole new meaning for me. ;)

It was on the large homestead of an awesome hippie couple in Santa Fe. The back yard had chickens, carrier pigeons, an herb garden and a two-story treehouse. I went through two years of math in one year. We built a stone circle in the back, and another one up in the mountains on a field trip. The whole thing was infused with a low-key alternative spirituality that probably would've driven my parents nuts if they knew about it.

How much different would my life be if the deeply, awesomely weird alternative school I went to for 7th grade didn't shut down the next year, landing me in catholic school for the next 5 years instead.

LB: This has also started to make me examine just how much that mindset has permeated into my brain without me wanting it too? It's like "Wait but I want to know how many people thought my stuff was cool! ...Wait why do I want that again?"

my favourite thing about people complaining about mastodon not being architected in a manner that's friendly to marketers/brands/analytics, is that the people don't realise mastodon might have been designed that way for a reason

Confirmed effect #1 of my week of meditation practice: am now a big meditation proponent.

...I think this is a very well-documented effect, isn't it.
