Folks for ten entire minutes I kept up the bit that I don't speak a word of French and the puppet is fluent. For ten entire minutes of Grandad looking like he was going to piss himself I kept interrupting this bilingual T-Rex's conversation with a small child so he could catch me up and/or translate my input for the kid. And the kid was young enough to believe us entirely.

Burning it all down, start gay anarchist communes, get stoned.

That may be the purpose of life

re: Tech douches, complaining

and now the same douche keeps trying to give me credit for something someone else made, despite me correcting him about it twice.

It is like he is stuck with the idea that there must be one person who is responsible for everything because otherwise people like Elon Musk are frauds, so he has to insist that there is one person who makes things and everyone else is just following them.

That mindset would explain a bunch of his behaviour.

Fuck him.

Tech douches, complaining

I have said many times on the tiddlywiki group that I am dyslexic, formatting on text that isn't part of layout (like titles or section headings) make things harder for me to read. Particularly coloured text and anything that adds extra lines.
I have also said to be clear about what you are asking.
I say these things a lot because they alway come up.

And this douche, who I have said both of these things to more than once, says 'A Note', in bold, followed by some text with a bunch of colors.

The text is just copied from some documentation in Bob, and there isn't anything else there. Just the words from the documentation and some colors on them.

This is the same douche who said that I should check out egoless coding when I told him he was being an ass.

In case the implication isn't clear, fuck egoless coding, it exists solely to shield abusers from their bad behaviour by putting all of the burden on the targets of their abuse and punishing people for reacting to abuse instead of the people doing the abusing.

And now we are fighting with how the fuck you get an app into the Apple App Store, we have to upload the same thing is something like 4 places, give the same information in each place using a different interface, make sure that we are properly logged in in all the places and if things don't work it only tells you at the last step.

Because fuck you, apparently.

Luckily I am only helping someone else do this, if it was just me I would have broken the computer by now

Product development, annoyed by the funding

I am very annoyed that we could do better with this project without the person funding us, but we want to get paid because eating is good. But in the long run we would probably be much more successful without the person funding having any say in what we do.

Grumble.

Apple seems to be really flailing around randomly with things lately.

The change to SwiftUI seems like a step backwards in a lot of ways.
It makes Swift feel much less like a full programming language than it did before.

They seem to be trying to make everything play nicely together by restricting everything to the feature set of the most restrictive platform.

I have been trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with this multicast thing on and off for probably a month.

I just noticed that on one computer in one of the settings file it has 225.0.2.114 instead of 224.0.2.114

One digit cost me so much time.

GRUMBLE

Grumbling about people

Many more people have found tiddlywiki over the past few days. So many more people have found Bob.

Which means more people asking for tech support and being entitled assholes about it.

Le fucking sigh.

N.B., if your request for tech support includes sarcasm direct at the person you are asking for help from you may not get much help.

Every time I feel bad about my shitty documentation I try to code something in swift and feel much better that at least my documentation isn't as bad as apples.

The best AI technique that we have found in every project I have worked on that used machine learning/AI was 'don't use machine learning or AI'.

I really don't like telling people to just RTFM, but when your bug report is 'I ignored the instructions and tired to do it differently' then just fucking RTFM, I am not going to give support for this shit

the differences in sed between my desktop (Ubuntu), my work laptop (osx) and windows (someone elses computer) are going to kill me

we got a grant to improve the celluloid nightmare and build a production copy for a university and make the whole thing open source.

The open source part was the plan all along, but we got to put a bit more into the grant application to pay for that bit.

So woo! Actually getting paid for something that I did that was actually somewhat interesting

Properly written unit tests save so much time.

Functional programming styles make unit testing much easier.

I can just run the test script and figure out what the big project refactoring I did broke, if it broke anything.

I am not sure why, but OOP is really hard for me, functional programming and recursion is much much easier.

I got an email addressing me as the main developer on a project that I had one pull request accepted on.
This is instead of any of the projects that I am the main author of.
It is asking me to star and contribute to another project.

Is this sort of spam normal for projects looking for contributors?
