i saw a tweet that said kids in the hood suffer from ptsd. so true... we are told at a young age to not talk about the things we see. death, homelessness, police brutality, fights, mental illness, drug use. ask us if we are okay, too.

@jakebe I don't want to assume I understand something I don't, but that "told [...] to not talk about the things we see" makes me think of something I heard about the psychology of PTSD: people who don't get support for dealing with overwhelming experiences, who have that stress downplayed or ignored or denied, are way more likely to suffer lasting trauma.
